Lara is a writer/ director from Devon, and a graduate of BA Film Practice at the University of the Arts London.

 

She was selected for the BFI New Voices Scheme 2024 and is currently on the Channel 4 New Writers Scheme 2025/26.

 

Her work centres on grounded, character-led stories, often from regional perspectives, with a focus on underrepresented voices and emotionally honest storytelling. Her short film Christmas, 1978 screened at festivals including the BFI-backed Sunrise, Romford, Rainbow, and One Fluid Night, and was shortlisted for the Cornwall Film Festival.

 

She is currently working on a new short, Dig My Grave, which re-imagines a Dartmoor legend.
